Throwback Fridays

Friday, April 10th, 2009

I just watched a mess of old skate videos. My favorite so far was 101 – Snuff.. hadn’t seen that since before I had a driver’s license. Here it is on Google Video.

Also the new Guy Mariano ep is up on Epicly Later’d.

Now we’re ordering pizza, playing with Louie (pics coming soon) and listening to Tical. Oh and just in case you didn’t know, “power-u” means “pussy”. And that’s real to a brother like me babay.

Lastly I wanna send a big FUCK YOU to all those Somali Pirates out there. You inspire me but not in a good way.

Flying Coffin x Manik Skateboards X Goods Decks

flying_coffin_decks

To commemorate their 2nd anniversary, Flying Coffin has teamed up with fellow Seattle companies Manik Skateboards and GOODS.

The outcome is a collage of just about every graphic Flying Coffin has ever produced spread out across five very limited edition skateboard decks.

Only 50 sets (250 boards total) were produced. We actually got shorted a set because they were in such high demand.

The wood is the best in the industry (heh) and they’re sized, from left to right: 7.75, 7.87, 8, 8, 8.125 but this is of little consequence as we’re guessing they’ll be bought to display rather than ride.

Thusly, we are only selling them as a complete set. This is a great piece of wall art at a very good price.

Like I said, they’re very limited so buy now. I expect them to be sold out by the time I get back from The Olive Garden.

Battle at the Berrics

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

Skateboarding has gotten so out of control these days with guys like Mike Mo doing the most incredible tech/manual/flip-in-flip-out type stuff or Fallen guys doing huge rails and gaps… I’m not being a curmudgeon but for most people that does not compute.

This series going on at the Berrics right now is essentially the purest form of head to head competition there could ever be in skateboarding.

Style, speed, distance, transition and any other number of factors is an apples and oranges scenario. This tournament puts some of the best skaters of our time head to head on flat ground tricks. You make it or you don’t.. that’s it.

I could watch this shit over and over all day.

I am a big fan of Arto Saari but I can’t say I wasn’t a bit happy when The Cheekster took him out. Just goes to show you that when you take away the obstacles, what you can actually do on a skateboard is what really matters.

Watch the Battle at the Berricks.

Epicly Later’d: Mike Carroll

Friday, December 12th, 2008

I always love the Epicly Later’d episodes but the current set is on my all time favorite skater (basically life hero since I was 12), Mike Carroll.

It’s really sick. I had no idea some of the shit they reveal in here and you get a really good look into the glory days of EMB (I’m gonna post up my footage of me skating there one day). This shit really makes me happy. I hope you enjoy it too.

Fuck this Winter shit I want to go skating.

Buffalo Ledge Spot

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Jonny and I closed up shop a few minutes early yesterday to go check out the foundation spot the Sunday guys set up. It’s a bit out of the way, in the industrial area over by General Mills that always smells like weird Cheerios.

I was pretty surprised by the random local bars that are over there. I saw two in what is otherwise an abandoned set of city blocks but both seemed full of people that went straight there from the factory.

I still need to work on getting my legs back. I did start to get used to my new wider board though.

For more info on Buffalo skate spots, check out the Cityscape that Sunday owner JP wrote for Skateboarder Magazine.
